Reception

Foundation Stage

Reception is taught by Mrs Taylor and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Goodwinn..

In Reception the children enter into the main school register. To make this transition as smooth as possible for them, the children remain within the Foundation Stage Unit of the school.

They are already familiar with the room, the structure of the day and those who will be teaching them. The children, rather than finding entering school a stressful time, are often very happy to be returning to the unit following the school holidays.

This not only ensures that the children are happier at school at this young age, but also means that the learning journey is as uninterrupted as possible.

The children within the Foundation Stage unit this year have participated in an International Art Project.

Five Artists from Canada came into the school for a week, to work with the children on art, craft, story writing, drama and dance.

This work involved activities such as weaving a story, in which the children told a story, through different colour ribbons that they were adding to a weaving frame.

The work of school was praised by these international teachers and artists. They described the unit as; “ A magical place to learn”.
