Year 4

Class 4

Year 4 is taught by Mrs Newton and the class Teaching Assistant is Miss Powell.

In Year 4 the children complete key stage 2 and get ready for transition to

St Wilfrid’s Upper School

School uniform remains a red sweat shirt, white T. shirt, and black or grey trousers or skirt.

The children continue to learn within an enriched curriculum. Super learning days and weeks are regular features to enhance the curriculum, and develop key skills and knowledge. These can range from “Countries and Cultures” to “Artists from around the world”.

All classrooms within the school have benefitted from being enlarged and remodelled.  Year 4 has a large open window area that overlooks our school grounds and wildlife area.
The learning environment is given a high priority at St Wilfrids and we encourage the children to take a pride in their school, and the classrooms are filled with interactive displays that support learning and stimulate ideas and creativity.

The main topics within Year 4 are the Romans, India and the Tudors, and the children take part in an educational visit to Ordsall Hall (a Tudor hall), they create a mini artefacts / museum area, and in costume through ICT they create their own film about events in Tudor times. Within ICT the children continue film making around their topic themes.
