Extended Schools

St Wilfrids is proud to have achieved an Award in recognition that we provide the Full Core Offer of services for Extended Schools.

This means that the school ensures that al of the children’s needs are met and Every Child Matters is at the Core of the School.

Extended Schools Building Developments

The school has worked closely with Manchester LEA and the Extended Schools team, to develop the old caretakers bungalow on St Wilfrid’s school grounds into a community used, extended schools building.

The bungalow has been redesigned and remodelled to create an amazing space for children before the age of school. OFSTED have registered the bungalow to begin operating as a Playgroup for 20 children.

A Mums and Tots club will also take place every Wednesday afternoon and the children will benefit from the extended space and facilities.

In September it’s use is to be developed and while Playgroup will remain a central part of the services on offer, we are hoping to work with Sure Start and other services to develop Speech and language sessions, and other sessions that might be required by the community.
