Due to COVID closures in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years, pupils did not complete the swimming programmes. 2021-22 data will be made available upon the completion of the academic year, with year 4 pupils currently attending year-round weekly swimming lessons.

National Curriculum Swimming Data 2018-2019

Swimming Proficiency – The percentage of our year 6 pupils who could competently, confidently and proficiently swim a distance of at least 25m was 100%. The percentage of pupils who could perform self-rescue in different water-based situations when they left primary school at the end of the last academic year was 60% (40% did not achieve self-rescue) and finally the percentage of pupils who could use a range of strokes effectively was 16% (84% did not achieve a range of strokes).

Our children in Year 4 participate in a weekly swimming lesson and 88% of the children at the end of the academic year achieved the 25m award and 24% achieved the 50m award.  This initiative will continue and the children thoroughly enjoy the activity; their confidence, stamina and overall fitness has improved and they have thrived on the challenge again this year.
